Full circle. I guess the season ended the way it began. No matter. It was still fun. As future quickly becomes past, my spirit fleeter than my body, I still celebrate "our team". Many thanks to everyone for playing in 1999. Special thanks to Erin, Kevin P., & Michelle for helping out when we needed quality bodies. (Did that sound right?)

Of course, special, special thanks to Rob for doing the coaching. Making the lineup, trying to keep everyone happy . . . well, speaking from experience, it's a generally thankless job. Who's up for it next year?

Hope everyone has a great summer, fall, & winter.

Don't be strangers. I don't want to wait 'till we're "a year older" before I see y'all again. But if that's the way it is, so be it. You'll all be in my thoughts (kindly of course) 'till we meet again.

Peace and love,

Chris

Oh boy, the last game of the regular season, and we almost had it. Maybe if yours truly didn't pop up 3 times . . . Anyway, a pretty good defensive game from our side. They had a coupla' good "tweeners" through the outfield.

Next week, the first round of the playoffs begin, start time at 6:15 instead of 6:30. (Hope Washington DC traffic cooperates for me) We don't know yet where, or against whom, but Cindy will probably get the information first.

For all of the folks going on the canoe / camping trip this weekend, I hope you have a great time! Be safe. (Especially the non swimmers, you know who you are) Wish I could be there too.

I'll do my best to have some more pics posted tonight (Thursday). I'm home with Alison, but we have a pretty full schedule today.

6/29/99

Sorry folks, network down at one of my customers'.

6/22/99

Go Radicals! Kudos to the catchers (both teams). That was the muddiest home plate area I've ever swam on. Not a whole lot of runs tonight but we got what we needed in the clutch. Defense was steady, though the infield play I think was outstanding.

Next Tuesday is at Overlea #2. That is the middle field. We're playing Brew Ha's #2, who beat us last time 7-1. I'm definitely going to bring my hitting shoes. I've got to get out of this "pop-up/ground to short" slump!

Didn't get any game pics, just a few clips from the O.P.I. I'll get them posted by Thursday morning. Anyone else? . . .

6/15/99

Yeah Team! Radicals sweep! I awoke Wednesday morning, got the newspaper, silenced the radio, turned to the sports section. Not one mention of our doubleheader. I thought at the very least, there would be a color picture on page one . . . .

Good game folks. Stellar defense from Erin, Kevin, Drew, . . . actually everyone played very well. Next Tuesday is at Overlea #5 (I think that is the mud bowl), 6:30 p.m. vs Buck Fowlers. We haven't had a win against them in a couple of years, so let's keep the momentum going. Can anyone say O.P.I.?

    Happy Birthday to Drew

Peace

O.K. that's more like it! "You catch the ball, you throw the ball, you hit the ball." When you do all three pretty well, then you can win a game or two. Offensively, jumping out ahead early (both games) really helped us to stay focused. Brian, Drew, Cindy, Tim & Cheryl had hot bats. Welcome back Kim D. Whether she has touched a ball or not in the last year or two, she truly filled a gap for us, on "O" and "D".

Defensively, the team was pretty sharp. Inning 2 of Game 2 is the only time we faltered, but I have to give credit to the opponent too, 'cause they were stroking the ball well. Plenty of high arc strikes from Cindy, especially in Game 1.

I'm posting this Thursday morning, and I'm in a hurry. Won't be able to get any pics posted 'till tonight (maybe). Next Tuesday's doubleheader is at Fullerton Park under the lights. Start time is 8:15. See ya'!

6/1/99

Close game. Not mentioning any names, but if some pushing forty guy could run, we could have won that game. All in all, good games from Rob, Drew, Pen, & Tim. Tuesday's games (doubleheader), are at the same field. Start time for game 1 is 6:00p.m. Let's try to have enough players to start on time.

Practice is Sunday at 9:00a.m. (he he). Drew is going to try to bring another team to scrimmage with us. Do you guys want to have a homerun contest? Later!

5/25/99

Hey folks, that didn't seem like a blowout did it? Great games for Paul, Cheryl, Rob, Tim & Kate. Thanks to Dominic for keeping a good book. (I'm sure he would have rather been swinging a bat!) No practice on Sunday. Tuesday's game is at the Overlea (top) field. See ya'

5/18/99

Comments anyone? Bob V. did pitch, but he didn't start. I could never hit him. We scored our only two runs early. Our defense looked pretty good again. (Brian really kept his eye on the ball). Hope everyone had fun at the O.P.I. afterward. I sure did. Practice this Sunday starting at 9 a.m., or whenever. This Tuesday we're at Overlea #5 again. (The muddy field)

5/11/99

Even though we lost, we played much better folks. We seemed to be much more relaxed. That must have been the fastest full game we ever played. Hope Kevin & Donna are doing ok. My sympathy and all that - but Kev, we had to play with nine players. Kim & Cindy swung the bat very well, and Drew & Brian were fielding like the Orioles. Did everyone have fun after the game? Next Tuesday will be a closer game (if Bob V. doesn't pitch)

5/6/99

Haven't been here in a while, and I've been late getting stats & stuff up 'till now. Don't have a whole lot to say about our first two games except that everyone seemed more relaxed by game 2.

Got a comment in my guestbook from Tim:

"Where is the '99 softball stuff?" I'm working on it. In fact, I forgot all about bringing a camera or camcorder to the first two games.

Peace,
